Technical Guidelines
Presentation Format
- Your presentation must be in PowerPoint 16:9 landscape format (*.ppt *.pptx).
- PDF format is not authorised.
- Please note that the application used is not compatible with Keynote, Open Office or Prezi. Therefore, we recommend that you avoid using any of these software programmes when preparing your presentation.
- Please be reminded that your e-Poster must be exclusively written in English.
- It is mandatory to indicate poster number in the upper right corner of the poster.
- Please note that you can submit only one slide.
- Do not overload your poster. Remember, you are not writing an article.
- Seek simplicity, keep text to a minimum and avoid redundancies.
- Use 500 to 1,000 words (including title, figure legends and tables), not more.
- The figures and tables should cover approximately 50% of the poster area.
- The average reader spends one to two minutes on your poster. Highlight your main finding. Most of us start by reading the Conclusions. Thus, do not hide them in the right lower corner. Put them at eye level, either at the top of the right column or, alternatively, start with the Conclusions.
- Otherwise, structure your poster by Introduction, Methods, and Results. State your Aims at the end of the Introduction.
- We suggest that the pathway (eye movement) be downward. Use three to five columns.
- Let your important points stand out. Use (but do not overuse) bold and colours.
- If possible, avoid abbreviations and acronyms, especially in the Conclusions.
- Feel free to provide one or more key references (in the right lower corner).
- Handouts of your abstract/poster (with your email addresses) for your interested readers may facilitate future research communication.
Mac PowerPoint
- If you have prepared your poster in Mac PowerPoint format, we highly recommend that you test your e-Poster in a Windows system beforehand.
- In order to avoid any PC and Mac compatibility issues, we strongly recommend that you only use fonts that are common to both systems (Arial, Courier, Courier New, Geneva, Georgia, Helvetica, Times, Times New Roman).
- Please make sure you upload all of your original files (pictures, videos).
Video Files
- The videos must be included in your PowerPoint presentation.
- Videos must be in the following formats: .wmv, .mov, .avi, .mp4, .mpeg, .mpg.
- Please make sure the video files are saved in the same folder as your PowerPoint presentation and ensure all links work correctly.
